5-day course on “Physics and Technology of Inertial Fusion Energy”,  in Pisa, Italy, November 3 to 7, 2025

The second event of LaserFusion, a 5-day course on “Physics and Technology of Inertial Fusion Energy”,  is organised at the INO-CNR in Pisa, from November 3 to 7, 2025.

The event will consist in a training course for postgraduate students with focus on diagnostics for Inertial Fusion Energy experiments. It will include lectures and seminars on theoretical aspects and practical schemes of plasma, particle and radiation diagnostics, as well as hands-on exercises in laboratory.

The lecture series will feature contributions by experts from INO-CNR  in the field: M. Salvadori will address laser plasma interaction, while A. Macchi will focus on TNSA for proton probe. P. Koester will present on X-ray diagnostics, and G. Cristoforetti will cover parametric instabilities. Additionally, L. Labate will discuss laser diagnostics, and F. Brandi will give a lecture on interferometry.
There will be also 7 seminars on specific topics delivered by researchers from the other partners of the consortium.

The hands-on experiences will provide participants with practical training on key experimental techniques. Activities will include:
1. Wavefront reconstruction of He-Ne laser, Phase plates: lab measurements + python script
2. OAP alignment with He-Ne laser + Labtour
3. Mounting optics: Wavefront changes due to stress on mirrors (focusing or focusing + interferometry)

A preliminary flyer can be found here

A limited number of participants from the eight partner Universities/Isntitutions of the consortium will be selected to attend the school.  Please contact the key person of the resepctive partner.
