LaserFusion announces IP2 “ICF Related Laser and Plasma Sources and Technology” in Prague

The LaserFusion consortium is pleased to announce its second 10-day intensive programme, the Summer School on Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) Related Laser and Plasma Sources and Technology. This advanced training event will be hosted by the ELI Beamlines Facility in the Czech Republic from 13 to 23 July 2026.

This intensive summer school represents a key milestone in the LaserFusion training pathway, offering a unique opportunity for students to engage with frontier laser and plasma technologies for inertial fusion energy in a premier European research infrastructure.

Programme Focus

Designed for MSc, PhD from the consortium’s partner institutions, this school provides an in-depth exploration of the physics and technology of high-power laser drivers for Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE). The curriculum is structured to cover:

  • High-power laser drivers and their crucial beam properties.

  • The challenges of transporting and delivering laser energy to fusion targets.

  • State-of-the-art laser systems, optical components, and target technologies.

  • The broader context of experimental infrastructure for IFE.

The programme is designed to bridge theory and practice, blending expert lectures with essential hands-on activities and tours of the unique ELI Beamlines facility.

Format and Participation

The school combines theoretical learning with practical experience in a world-leading laser research environment. Attendance is limited and selection is managed internally by each partner institution. Interested students should contact the designated key person at their home institution.

Practical Information

  • Suggested accommodation booking deadline: 31 May 2026.
